Coventry Schools entertain the Ricoh

Last night at the Ricoh the Coventry Schools FA hosted the Paul Fletcher Memorial Trophy match between Coventry Schools U15's and Swindon U15's.

The Swindon side, containing 6 academy players and a Welsh U15 International, took the lead on 16 minutes through their number 9 Billy Bodin, pouncing on a mistake by the Coventry keeper to score in front of an empty Telegraph stand.

Whilst the Swindon side were happily controlling the game and using their height at the back to hold the Coventry attack, a defensive mistake on the 20th minute allowed Coventry no 10 Tom Henry to put in a sublime lob over the Swindon keeper to draw the teams level.

Both sides were putting in some honest endeavour but Swindon always seemed to have a bit more control, aided at times with Coventry passes going astray.
The Swindon side went back into the lead in the 40th minute when no 17 Joe Harris scored at the far post, with the Coventry defence having been drawn across the goal leaving time and space for the ball to go inside the post to the keepers left.

In the second half Coventry played much better on the ground football, and put much more pressure on the Swindon back line, but with many players suffering cramp in the latter stages the goals to pull back into the game just wouldn't come for the Coventry side.

So Swindon picked up the trophy in front of a decent sized crowd all housed in the Telent stand, which included members of the Coventry senior management team.
