Coventry Mad FAQ

Who Are You?

Covsupport News Service, who currently have a contract with Digital Sports Group to provide copy for the Coventry Mad site, are a group of people with a very keen interest in sport, music, and all things Coventry& Warwickshire.

Some are match going Coventry City supporters, some are no longer Coventry City supporters, some are not because their interests lie elsewhere.

By the very nature of football as the nations number one sport and it's ability to galvanise communities, matters Coventry City FC and football both League One news and in general are the prime focus for the main home page of Coventry Mad, so that those who read various online media outlets output for information and news on the club that they follow, wherever in the world this may be, can easily obtain this information.

Our coverage of sport in the Coventry & Warwickshire (CV Postal Code area), including non-league football and women's football which we have long supported, international sport such as cycling which has its roots deep in the history of Coventry, music etc can be found on the Local News pages

Who Are Your Rivals?

We do not class any other website or forum as a rival, and the website has have never been run in such a way as to try and be better than any other form of media outlet or forum aimed at the Coventry City supporter or interested party to the information we provide.

Should there be anyone involved with another site or outlet who sees us as a rival then frankly, they are misinformed and misunderstood on what we stand for and strive to achieve.

Careful study of the Coventry Mad website will show that many articles posted contain links to the author or host website, so that internet traffic is driven to them. In most cases, this is to the official club website or local newspapers.

We believe that the Coventry City support is too broad a church to be just relying on one media source and Coventry supporters for example, will always click on a number of sites as well as social media in order to obtain their news and information.

Explain Your Stance, Of Providing Information & Viewpoints So That Supporters Can Make Up Their Own Minds

We try, wherever possible and wherever we are permitted to, under restrictions placed up on us by outside outlets and sources, to provide as many view points on a topic including emails received, so that readers can form their own opinion.

The majority of the views covered are certainly not those of Covsupport News Service, those that are have been and will be clearly identified as such.

This is in line with the rider that we add to the articles. It must never be assumed that all views expressed on this site or any other media form that we contribute to, or are contracted to provide copy to, are those of Covsupport News Service or those connected with it.

We believe it is morally wrong and offensive to force opinions on others but, being totally independent, we reserve the right to publish articles which may or may not represent the view/opinion of a club, team or person in the Coventry & Warwickshire area in order to highlight the many and varied views that all of us possess, or to stimulate public debate.

In some ways, this mirrors what happens on specific social media forums but we are very mindful of working with clubs and other interested parties unlike those who are posting on such social media sites.

If other sites or social media posters wish to run “In Case You Missed It” articles or other such attention seeking articles, that is their business but this is not a road we go down or feel a need to.

Do You Work With Clubs etc?

Yes, we certainly do and always have done wherever possible, as this is our preferred modus operandi.

We have worked with a number of departments at Coventry City over the years and other sporting clubs in the Coventry & Warwickshire area to try and ensure that supporters wishing to attend a game or event either as a supporter or corporate guest etc, have as much information as possible to allow them to do that or to purchase their products or services.

At least one person involved with Covsupport News Service attends the Coventry City Supporters Consultation Group meetings, as has been the case for over 5 years, contributing a number of thoughts and ideas,  some of which have been considered worthy enough by the club to be implemented .

We are proud to have very good relationships in place with the major Coventry City supporters clubs and bodies of supporters around the world, often helping to arrange, and host, visits for supporters from outside the UK especially to Coventry City home & away games.

To many outside of Coventry & Warwickshire and indeed, the UK, as much information as is possible regarding Coventry City FC and the local sporting teams is wholeheartedly welcomed, and allows them to retain a connection with their club and/or heritage.

Why Do You Cover Local Sport & Events Going On In Coventry & Warwickshire?

Because we feel this is an area which is under-represented in the local media, who no longer have the staff to cover as many local sporting events as they would like to and such a vibrant sporting and cultural local scene does need to given a wider audience.

Covsupport News Service have been actively engaged with a number of local cup competitions and the charities that they support over the years and cover on an annual basis the Coventry Charity Football Cup Final and the Coventry Telegraph Cup Final.

We also have involvement with a number of local projects which promote Coventry as a City.

Why Don’t You Cover Wasps Matches?

In short, none of those involved with Covsupport News Service have any interest in Wasps. The only colleagues we have, who are interested in Rugby Union are committed supporters of either Coventry Rugby Club or Northampton Saints.

As with the majority of football supporters across the country, once an individual gains an attachment to a club then that is there for life, and this is the case for these colleagues and their rugby teams, as they will not switch their allegiances just because Wasps are now playing at the Ricoh Arena.
