It is thought that Coventry City manager was keen on securing a loan move for the 20 year old Sunderland striker Ryan Noble, but a deal failed to materialise after Sunderland decided to keep the player as cover in case of injury to their other strikers.

However it now seems thew Black cats have had a change of mind and SkySports.com are reporting that Sunderland will now offer Noble for loan in January.

Noble suffered a back injury late last season and has only recently returned to fitness and has scored seven goals, including two hat-tricks, in three reserve games. His latest hat-trick, against Scunthorpe last Tuesday, was scored in the space of just six minutes.

Coventry City face stiff competition if they want to secure the services of Noble on loan in the January transfer window as at least half a dozen  Championship clubs are thought to be monitoring the situation.

Middlesbrough, Burnley, Derby County and Blackpool, as well as Coventry City are all keen on signing Noble.
