Coventry City lost their first ever game in this new U21 League with a 3-1 home defeat to Sheffield United.

On a cloudy afternoon, Lee Carsley was able to field a strong side for the first ever Barclays U21 Premr League Division 2 North game.

Cyrus Christie played at left back with Henderson, William Edjenguele and Nathan Cameron in a team which started with a terrific shot from Lewis Garner being dealt with by the keeper at the second attempt.

In the tenth minute. Roy O'Donovan headed over from a Jeffers cross and another thundering strike from Garner followed that.

With Andy Thorn, Richard Shaw ,Steve Ogrizovic and Steve Waggott watching on, as Jeffers was brought down in the 22nd minute by the keeper and a penalty awarded. Jeffers stroked the ball wide.

Seven minutes later, a foul by Christie gave United a free kick. The wall parted and Erik Tonne's kick went low into the net past the helpless Fagan.

Jeffers headed over and in the 41st minute, struck a post from an O'Donovan cross and Jordan Willis won a corner and Christie fired in a good shot before the half ended.

Six minutes into the second half, United doubled their tally when Fagan miss timed a kick and Philliskirk was able to score from an acute angle.
Lee Carsley replace O'Donovan and Willis before Fagan spilled a Chappel 64th minute shot from eighteen yards and Philliskirk fired wide from the rebound.

In the 67th minute, another foul by Christie saw a penalty awarded and Daniel Philliskirk scored with ease.

Forrester headed wide from a corner won by the hard working Joe Pegg before Jeffers was denied a penalty nine minutes from time. United went up the other end and in the 85th minute, Philliskirk had a shot parried away by Fagan who then was adjudged by the referee to have pulled down a player. Philliskirk took the spot kick but Fagan dived to his left to save.

The second half was coming to a close when Shaun Jeffers broke and thumped home from 25 yards with the ball hitting the stanchion and coming out, such was its force for a consolation goal and a 3-1 defeat.

The Sky Blues travel to Wigan next week.
