Coventry City hit by injuries

Coventry City will travel to Norwich tonight for their EFL Cup tie with only 18 fit players.

The injury list is lengthening almost daily with midfielder Andy Rose sidelined for months with a knee ligament injury.

City bos Tony Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph:“We can only take 18 fit footballers to Norwich and that’s including the young boys. We’re missing probably four definite starters so we need some help.

“Andy Rose is going to be out for a while. I can’t give you a precise time because the specialists have got to look at it but we’re talking weeks, perhaps months.

“He twisted his knee as he fell and he’s really disappointed as we are. Any time out is a problem for a footballer and it’s particularly difficult when it’s an important player like Andy at this stage of the season.

“Marvin has got the same problem as Andy but a lesser grade; we’re hoping it’s days rather than weeks in his case.

“With Jodi’s groin problem, too, we’re hopefully talking in terms of days. It’s nothing major but we just have to build up his resistance – test it, have a look, see if there’s a reaction and if there is we let it settle down and go again.

“Kwame has got a similar problem in the groin / pelvic area but that looks longer term – weeks possibly months. Chris Stokes has had his operation so it’s just a case of waiting for him to recover.

“I never like putting time-scales on these things because the specialists always give you a best case / worst case scenario so all we can really do is wait. These things are part and parcel of football so there’s no point in moaning – you just have to get on with it.

“We’ll hopefully have two, three, four more players in the building inside the next eight days but having had this run of injuries in a short time means we probably have to readjust our targets.”
