Contrary to claims by Coventry City Chairman Tim Fisher on Friday that Coventry Rugby Club were quite upset by the protests during the Sky Blues 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United.

Tim Fisher said on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: “I get a sneaky suspicion we would not be invited to discuss any further any deal down at Butts Park Arena given the events of last night.

“I don’t think Coventry Rugby Club want to attract any controversy down to Butts Park Arena.”

He added: “I haven’t had a phone call from them today, but I know they are disappointed with what they saw... I know they are really quite upset.”

However, speaking to the Coventry Telegraph, Coventry Rugby Club Chairman John Sharp said: “We don’t pay any attention to it. That’s about the football club.”
