Coventry born Ian Evatt has contacted Lancashire Police about an alleged assault at the end of Chesterfield's 3-0 defeat at Preston North End in a League One Play-Off game on Sunday.
Evatt or Evo as many people know him on the Coventry non-league circuit, is a former Blackpool player and this is believed to be the reason why he was allegedly target.
The defender is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "How long will this go on until there's a serious incident? It's too easy for fans to invade pitches.
"To be attacked on a football pitch and fear for your safety is an absolute disgrace."
