Coventry born Graham Alexander is hoping to secure a place amongst Preston North End's backroom staff.

Canley hailing Alexander, who played for Coventry Schools, has ended his 21 year playing career which saw him recognised at international level for Scotland as well as playing league football for the likes of Burnley and Preston.

Speaking to the Lancashire Evening Post, Alexander said: "The chairman says we will speak soon so hopefully something can get sorted out.

"I'm at that stage where it still sounds a little bit strange when people talk about me being retired, but it's something which all footballers have to go through, and I'm just looking towards the next challenge."
