Coventry City's next opponents, Nottingham Forest, could have a new manager in time to take charge of the team.

It is understood that Steve Cotterill has agreed to become Steve McClaren's successor after Portsmouth and Forest agreed compensation terms earlier in the week.

McClaren resigned last month as manager of Nottingham Forest over disagreements and differences over transfer funds and policy.

BBC Radio Solent is reporting that Cotterill has been to Pompey's training ground to say goodbye to the players and that his scheduled press conference ahead of Saturday's game has been cancelled.

Neither club has made an official statement yet, but the former Notts County manager had been the bookies favourite to become Forest's next manager.
