Controversial Collins In For City Game

The currently appointed referee for Coventry City’s League One game against Fleetwood Town is Lee Collins.

This is the fourth year for Mr Collins on the FL Referees List and the Coventry City games that Mr Colllins has been in charge of, have been a tad controversial in one way or another.

His last City game was the 3-1 win over Notts County at Sixfields On November 2nd 2013 which saw the game completely change when Danny Haynes was sent off for karate kicking Jordan Clarke.

Before that, Mr Collins was in charge of the opening day 3-2 defeat at Crawley Town on August 3rd 2013. In that game, Mr Collins allowed a second goal for Crawley to stand, which he should not have done, and it was a decision that sparked a pitch invasion.

He only booked three players in City’s 2-1 win over Oldham on January 19th 2013 but in his first ever FL City game - the 2-2 draw at Swindon on October 13th 2012,  John Fleck was taken to hospital and Richard Wood sustain a broken nose in incidents that Mr Collins failed to punish. He did however, caution eight players in the game.

His assistants are Lisa Rashid and David Richardson and the Fourth Official is Michael D’aguilar.
