Communication Is So Important - Shaw

Coventry City caretaker manager Richard Shaw has said that communication is so important.

Speaking to the CT's Alan Poole after the 1-0 defeat at Crewe, Shaw said: “We were talking in the week about concentration, but a couple of people dived in when they didn’t need to, when they should have been sensible and stayed on their feet.

“They were trying to win tackles when they weren’t there and you can’t do that at any level.

“You’ve got to be solid as a back four, solid as a midfield four; be patient, don’t panic when the other team has got the ball. Because if one person loses that link, the other ten are in trouble.

“We knew how hard Crewe would be because they always play to a system with some good young players coming through and they’ll give anybody a game at their place.

“We looked jaded in the first half and perhaps Tuesday’s frantic game took its toll, but we need more quality in the final third and concentration in the back four.

“We also need to talk more because communication is so important and all-in-all we’re quite a quiet bunch.

“I think that’s probably something you’re born with or not, but if you’ve got any aspirations to do well you’ve got to keep talking, keep demanding more from each other.”
