Former Coventry City defender Colin Hendry, is to challenge a driving ban, claiming that his "rare metabolism" ensured the breath test readings did not correlate.

Hendry, who made eleven appearances for City in 2001, was stopped by police in Lytham where he now lives and admitted a charge of drink driving at Blackpool Magistrates Court.

However, the Scot and his legal team are contesting the ban after Hendry's solictor Glyn Lewis said that Initial forensic tests conducted on behalf of Hendry found the figures did not correlate and further investigation was needed.

Hendry was unconditionally bailed until April 22nd.
