Coleman Wants Final Flourish

Coventry City manager Chris Coleman wants City to end in style as they take on Watford in the final home game of the season tomorrow.

"It is our last home game so that is a good chance for us to finish on a positive at home in front of our supporters and give them a thank you for their support this season," said Coleman to the CT.

"To get that three points, especially at home and considering the run of form we have had, would be great and it would be nice to finish with a flourish because our supporters deserve it.

"I remember the last home game of last season against Wolves when we had a really good crowd on a really hot day and drew 1-1.

"It was a great atmosphere but this time I only hope we get a couple of goals and the three points.

"The supporters vented their anger at times on Tuesday night and that's fine. "But for me, I said to the players that it was a tough game and if we pass it backwards or square a couple of times the supporters won't like it and will think it is negative, albeit I disagree with them.

"I thought our players were brave. They didn't play great football for 90 minutes but they always wanted the ball. "Freddy Eastwood was a prime example.

"He didn't have a great night in terms of anything coming off for him, but, for me, he showed his true colours because he never hid and none our boys were hiding, and I was really pleased with them and I hope they take that attitude on Saturday.

"The players have done their best for me and nine times out of ten I have been very happy with them."

Coleman went on to say: "We have teased the supporters this season.

"The start was great and we were in the top six after the first ten games after hitting our target of 15 points.

"Then we had a bad patch in the next ten games and then came good, coinciding with when we signed Jordan Henderson and David Bell in January which gave balance and natural wingers to the team, so that was no coincidence.

"We had a great Cup run and then we lost those two players and had a wobble in the league and were hit with a lot of injuries, so it is no coincidence that we are where we are.

"The question is, can we still finish in the middle? Yes we can, with two big results.

"I am not holding my breath because every time we have been in a position to do it we haven't done it.

"I said at the start that we aimed to finish mid-table and a lot of people didn't like that because they thought it was negative. But I wasn't, I was just being real.

"But we have got a stronger squad and have had a more positive season, and if we get to our target then I think that's a good progression from last season
