Coventry City manager Chris Coleman was quick to praise his side who were beaten 3-2 in extra time by Newcastle United tonight.

Said Coleman to the media after the game: "Coming off the back of a 3-0 home defeat to Bristol City on Saturday, I could not have asked for more.

"I was delighted with the way we bounced back but then Michael Owen did what Michael Owen does best. That's why he's a world-class player."

Elsewhere in the League Cup, Wolves went out on penalties away to Rotherham after a 0-0 draw. Premiership West Brom lost 3-1 at Hartlepool, Northampton won 2-0 at Bolton, Crewe beat Bristol City 2-1 and Leeds beat Crystal Palace 4-0.
