Coventry City manager Chris Coleman has said that he is a happy man following the signing of Michael McIndoe from Bristol City.

The City boss had become increasingly frustrated at not being able to strengthen his squad and said to the CT: "I have had a glass of wine because I'm happy to get another player through the door.

"We have still got a bit of time left to perhaps do another one or two, which we'd like to do.

"I understand what the supporters are thinking because we've sold two very good young players. We didn't really have a lot of choice and we are trying to re-invest some of that money and we want to make sure that any players we bring in are of the same quality.

"We've missed out on a few deals but when you finally get somebody of the quality of Michael McIndoe it puts a smile on everybody's face.

"It gives the players a bit of a buzz and that's good because they've been terrific - they've got their heads down and got on with it.

"I am delighted to have him on board - he's a player I've liked for a long time. He's got a lot of experience in this league and he's a very exciting player who can score goals and create goals.

"It's nice to finally clinch the deals, because it's dragged on a little bit as these things sometimes do, and I'm looking forward to working with him.

"He's a winger, natural left-sider. He can play inside as well because he's got very good feet but he loves getting at full-backs and putting a good delivery into the box.

"He's eager to get going. We showed him around the Ricoh and he said he'd always enjoyed playing here - and he wasn't lying because he scored for Bristol City when they won 3-0 here last year and I understand he got a goal the season before when they won 3-0.

"He's excited about what we're trying to do here and really looking forward to the new season."
