"I've had my eye on him for some time and I'm delighted that thanks to the Chairman's relationship with one or two people at Chelsea, we've been able to get him through the front door," said the City manager to the CT.
"He's a Dutch U21 international, very young and inexperienced at this level but an exciting offensive left back. He's shaped up very well in training and I'm looking forward to working with him over the next six months.
"I have no concerns whatsoever about putting him straight into the side - if he makes a mistake it will be down to me.
"He's got the licence to express himself, to get used to the Championship and the physicality of most teams. That won't be a problem - he's agood player and good players can always adapt."
