Coleman Blames Rogue Agent

Coventry City manager Chris Coleman has accused an agent of stirring up trouble regarding Danny Fox being linked with a move to Newcastle United.

"There has been a lot of talk and speculation but we never had any bids," said Coleman to the CT.

"I don't call an approach from an agent who is not Danny Fox's agent saying, 'If Newcastle were interested in Danny Fox would we be interested?' an approach.

"That's just some charlatan trying to stir a little bit of business up for himself.

"So I am not interested in that but if Newcastle are interested then it wouldn't surprise me, and it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of clubs are interested in some of our players. "But there was no official bid.

"We are obviously talking about the usual suspects - Aron Gunnarsson, Keiren Westwood, Dan Fox and Scott Dann - but we are not welcoming any bids and clubs know that," Coleman added.

"I have said before, if someone comes in and offers £5 million for one of our players that is a lot of money for Coventry and any club at this level, and you can do a lot of damage if you invest it properly.

"So we are not daft and I am not daft as a manager, but we don't welcome any bids because we are building and we have still got a long way to go.

"Since I first walked in the door, 16 or 17 players have left and we have got eight permanent signings in, so we are still building.

"You look at Cardiff, Wolves and Reading and we want to be up there with them. "We can do it on a one-off day because when we perform we can beat anyone, but to do it week in, week out, you need a good team.

"We are a decent team but obviously not there yet."
