Club Statement Calls For Support For City Players

"The club would like to address the fan protest at Saturday's away game. We are mindful that any fan or supporter group of this football club is entitled to an opinion and we clearly also recognise that fans have the right to protest, should they wish to do so.

However, the board and all staff at the club would urge our fans to consider the impact on the players who represent the football club. At a time when the team is under pressure to perform, the players take great encouragement from the fantastic support of our fanbase and are continually spurred on by the committment shown in the stands.

As we approach two home fixtures over the course of the next week, we would like to see that fantastic support of the players on the pitch as the first whistle blows.

Whilst we recognise that this is a frustrating time for the many people associated with the club, it is imperative the players who put on a Sky Blue shirt in representation of Coventry City are encouraged and given the boost they need in all performances."
