Coventry City striker Clinton Morrison has said that he feels sorry for the fans who have witnessed some recent poor performances from the Sky Blues.

Speaking to the CT, Morrison said: "We have been poor and I feel sorry for the fans and the gaffer.

"They keep turning up and getting behind the team, even after the bad performance at Plymouth they went to Forest in their numbers.

"We, as players, have to produce better on the pitch. "I know the fans are frustrated but, speaking personally, I am still trying my hardest and will keep doing that."

Morrison will captain the side for the last three matches of the season due to Scott Dann's groin injury and added:

"It is a bit quiet at the minute and it needs players like myself to gee up the players because we can't allow people to think about the end of the season. "You never know what the gaffer is thinking.

"He might be looking to bring in four or five players, so everyone has got to keep on their toes and if they want to stay at this club they need to put in a shift.

"Maybe I am a bit over the top but when I come off the pitch I am actually a nice man, but when I am on the pitch I want to win and that's just my will to win.

"I play for Coventry City now and I want to do well for them. "No disrespect to the Championship, I don't want to be playing in it because this club deserves to be in the Premiership and that's where I want to be.

"I want to take the club forward. So when I am having a go at the players that is me wanting to do well. "It is just the way I have been brought up and I expect other players to have a go at me if I am not pulling my weight."
