Coventry City captain, Sammy Clingan had to the BBC Coventry and Warwickshire that he would lie to extend his contract with the club.
The 27 year old's current contract expires in the summer and negotiations have already begun with several players with the aim of keeping as many of them at the club as possible.
The Northern Ireland international midfielder joined Coventry from Norwich in July 2009 and has risen to become club captain as well as as being one of the most experienced players in the squad. He is seen by many as a vital player for manager Andy Thorn.
Speaking to the BBC Coventry and Warwickshire, Clingan said, "The chairman flew in to speak to all the players about their contracts. I'd definitely like to stay."
