Coventry City midfielder Sammy Clingan played for Northern Ireland in their 5-0 defeat against the Republic Of Ireland in Dublin tonight.

Only 230 Northern Ireland fans, ignoring the high costs official travel and the protests over Northern Irish players being poached by the Republic, were in the Aviva Stadium to see Clingan play in a game which saw former Sky Blue Robbie Keane score twice.

Northern Ireland who play Wales on Friday, had Thompson sent off in the 53rd minute whilst Ireland's other goals came from Stephen Ward, a Cathcart own goal and Simon Cox.
