Clingan Out With Broken Toe

Coventry City club captain Sammy Clingan, who missed Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Hull City, will miss the busy Christmas programme because of a broken toe.

Clingan received the injury during the game at Portsmouth last week and X-rays showed a fracture. At the moment he can't even wear a shoe because of the swelling.

He will definitely miss next Saturday's trip to Peterborough and probably the next two home games, against Bristol City and Brighton.

Coventry manager Andy Thorn confirmed to the CT: “Sammy’s got a fractured toe and he can’t get a shoe on at the moment. He took a bang on his foot at Portsmouth last week and we had him X-rayed and he’s got a fractured toe on the outside so we’ve got a few more problems because it could be a couple of weeks.

To add to Coventry's problems, striker Cody McDonald injured his knee at half time and may now be out of action for a while and defender Richard Wood had to be replaced because he suffered from cramp.

Thorn said, “We lost Cody McDonald at half-time. He ran out on to the pitch at the start of the second half and his knee went and that’s why we had to make the substitution straight away and put Clive Platt on.

"Richard Wood was cramping up and had to come off as well so things just ain’t going for us at the moment, but we have got to keep going and got to stay positive and get back on the training ground and work at it again.
