Coventry City midifelder Sammy Clingan has said that he needs more match practice to get his fitness up.

The Northern Irishman who joined City for a fee rising to £1m, was left out of Norwich's pre-season friendlies which included a tour to Scotland and missed last Saturday's match at Huddersfield as his registration was not completed in time.

Clingan did get 75 minutes during the 1-0 defeat at Dunfermline and said to the CT's Andy Turner: "My legs are not too bad. "The most important thing for me is to get as many minutes as possible under my belt. The manager said to me before the game to play an hour depending on how my fitness was, but I felt ok and am glad I played.

"I thought I did alright but I just need to get my touch back because obviously I haven't played any games in pre-season and it takes a bit of time.

"But it was good to get playing with soem of the lads and to get to know them and their strengths and stuff and hopefully we can go into the new season and start clicking."
