Coventry City midfielder Sammy Clingan is back training with the Sky Blues.

The Northern Ireland international has recovered from a groin strain and will add to the competition for places along with Gary Deegan, loanee Oliver Norwood, Conor Thomas and Gael Bigirimana.

Speaking to the CT’s Andy Turner, City boss Andy Thorn said: “Sammy returned to training yesterday and while it is great to see him back it has given me a bit of a dilemma.

“Olly and Deegs have done all right and had we won at Forest I don’t think I would have been able to change it.

"Conor is in there as well so we are getting players back at a vital time and hopefully they will all be pushing each other for a place.

“I’ll wait and see how they do in training this week because there are no givens, but I need to get my best players on the pitch.”
