Coventry City has signed Clive Clarke on an emergency loan from Sunderland. The left-back has penned a one-month deal and will go straight into the squad for tonight's game against Colchester United.
A £400,000 signing from West Ham, the 26-year-old joined Sunderland in the summer. He has two caps for the Republic of Ireland and formerly spent nine seasons at Stoke City, where he started his career. Clarke has made four appearances for the Black Cats this term.
Said Micky Adams: "Clive is an experienced campaigner in the Championship as well as tasting football at international level. "We're in a position where we don't have any fit full-backs available at the moment, so Clive will go straight into the plans for tonight's game and I have no doubt that he has all of the attributes to be successful during his time with us."
Coventry City have also signed Richard Duffy on loan from Portsmouth. This is the Welshman's third spell at the club and he has made 46 appearances for the Sky Blues before the game against Colchester.
