City's Intense Training Is Crazy - Akpom

Loanee Chuba Akpom has described Coventry City's training as crazy.

Akpom, who is on loan from Arsenal for the rest of the season, told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: "The intensity of the training is crazy and I really didn’t expect it.

“But I am sure when I get used to it I will be flying. The lads really pop the ball around and the intensity is really quick, but I am sure I will soon be familiar with the system.”

Akpom has come to Coventry to get games and said: “I was just getting 20 minute cameos and stuff at Brentford who are playing really well, so it was nice to get a full game here at Coventry and hopefully I’ll get more game time here.

“I was looking to go out on loan again because I really didn’t want to play reserve-team football. I wanted first-team football; man’s football, and Coventry seemed the right club for me.

“The manager has a positive way of playing and there are quite a few young lads here, so it was the right place for me.

“Arsene Wenger didn’t say anything specifically to me about coming here but he knows it’s good to go out on loan when you are young to get experience, and hopefully when I go back to Arsenal in the summer I can push on for a place in the first team.

“I’ve been at Arsenal since the age of seven. There’s a lot of expectation on young players but I am just excited about getting games and as much experience as I can.

“I scored a few goals in the reserves but I don’t really pay attention to my tally with reserve football. I want to be doing it in League One or at first-team level and that’s what I’m looking to do here at Coventry.

“I’m really hungry and motivated. And seeing that there’s a lack of strikers at Arsenal right now is motivating me as well because the better I do here the more I can impress the Arsenal manager and push on.”
