City's Attendances Down Again

For the second season running, Coventry City's average home attendances have dropped.

This season's average home attendance was 17,407 compared to last season's 19,123. The global recession has certainly not helped and one only has to look at the number of shops closed down in town or Coventry City centre to see the effect the current financial climate is having.

Match tickets have never been easier to obtain with two ticket outlets centrally located as well as the ticket office at the ground and on-line facilities but the price of £26 for adults and £13 for concessions for tickets bought less than three hours before kick off has had a damaging effect on the walk up market.

The best way to fill a ground has been to put out a winning team and with the Sky Blues going through a rebuilding process after escaping relegation on the final day last season, the team has not been consistent enough this term to win enough matches at home or play enough attractive football to ensure that non season ticket holders attend matches on a more frequent basis.

The Supporters Consultation Group are to discuss the matter of attracting more supporters into the Ricoh Arena at a meeting this week.
