City Working On Their Goalscoring - Pressley

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has said that the Sky Blues are a better team than this time last season but has admitted that there is a problem with a lack of goals which is being worked on.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, Pressley said: “We’re only two points off where we were this time last season when we were getting huge plaudits but I actually think we are a better side.

“We haven’t scored as many but I think we can if we improve on a few details in the striking areas. Our goal return is something we’ve worked on and our training on Monday and Tuesday was very much based around creating partnerships and it’s really the first time we’ve been able to work on that with all five strikers.

“It’s something we looked at after the weekend because it needs to improve. We’re doing a lot of really good things in games and I feel we are very close to being a really good side, but the final pass or final bit of combination between the strikers has to improve to achieve that.

“The one thing I have always said is that if you can see evidence of the work we’re putting in and the things we’re trying to improve then I can live with that to a degree.

“Football is about winning games but sometimes in football you don’t get what you deserve – the last two games against Scunthorpe United and Rochdale have been that. We went seven unbeaten and we’d love to be sitting here nine unbeaten, and going on our performances we probably deserve to be.

"But the big thing for us is that to become the team we think we can, we have to improve in the final third and that’s why we’re working very hard to improve that this week.”
