City Up To Thirteenth

Coventry City are up to thirteenth after the 2-1 victory at Norwich City this afternoon.

The Sky Blues have 47 points from 34 matches and are seven points off a place in the play-offs.

Wolves still lead the table but were beaten 1-0 at home by Plymouth Argyle. Paul Gallagher scored the only goal of the game after forty seconds.

Jay Tabb made his Reading debut, coming on as a 60th minute substitute in the 1-0 home defeat by Nottingham Forest.

Reading are third in the table whilst fourth placed Preston beat Ipswich 3-2. Bristol City stay fifth after a 0-0 home draw with Blackpool whilst sixth placed Cardiff lost 1-0 at Southampton with Dimi Konstantopolous conceding a late penalty.

The Saints, moved up to third bottom after the win which lifts them above Norwich City and Charlton who drew 1-1 at Swansea City.

Elsewhere, Burnley lost 4-2 at home to Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley beat QPR 2-1 and Watford beat Crystal Palace. Last night, Doncaster beat Derby 2-1.

City had FA Cup opponents Chelsea watched this afternoon. The West Londoners beat Wigan Athletic 2-1.

In League One, leaders Leicester drew 2-2 at MK Dons whilst a goal from Lee Hughes helped Oldham beat Millwall 3-2 in stoppage time.

Locally, Rugby Town drew 1-1 with Oxford City at Butlin Road whilst in the Southern League Midland Division, leaders Leamington were back to winning ways with a 3-1 win against Arlesley Town. Bellingham fired the Brakes ahead before Luke Corbett scored twice. It looked liked debutant keeper Chris Kiely, son of former City young keeper Dean was going to have a clean sheet but Osbourne scored in stoppage time in front of a crowd of 586.

The biggest crowd in the division was at Nuneaton to see Boro beat Bromsgrove 2-1. Jez Murphy scored twice to rule out Snape's seventh miute penalty.

Former Sky Blue Tom Bates scored for Atherstone in a 2-1 win at Rothwell. Former Sphinx man James Mace had equalised for Jimmy Ginnelly's side.

Bedworth lost 2-0 at home to Romulus.

Coventry Sphinx's 3-2 Midland Alliance hom win against Oadby Town can be read elsewhere on this site but Stratford Town lost 2-0 at Coleshill and Racing Club Warwick earned a 1-1 draw at home to Shifnal Town.

Former City youth teamer Aza Ogarro scored for Cradley Town in a 2-2 draw with Highgate.

In the Midland Alliance, Coventry Copsewood lost 4-0 at home to Nuneaton Griff. Massey Ferguson lost 2-1 at Oldbury Ath and Southam beat Continental Star 1-0.

In Division Three, Coventry Amateurs beat Shipston Excelsior 5-2.
