City Up To Fourteenth

Chris Coleman's target for Coventry City being mid-table at Christmas has almost been achieved.

The Sky Blues have moved up to 14th in the table after this afternoon's 2-2 draw with Ipswich Town in their final fixture before Christmas Day on Thursday. They have 29 points from 24 games.

Wolves, 1-0 winners at Doncaster, are seven points clear at the top of the table from Reading who won 3-1 at Birmingham City this lunchtime.

Burnley, 2-1 winners at Bristol City are fourth with Cardiff (2-0 V Sheff Wed) fifth and Sheffield United (2-2 v Palace) sixth.

Doncaster are now bottom with eighteen points, the same as Charlton who lost 1-0 at Norwich. Nottingham Forest remain third bottom despite a 2-0 win at fourth from bottom Southampton.

Above the Saints are Norwich,Watford,Bristol City,Barnsley,Blackpool and Derby with Coventry City in 14th place.

Former City defender Sam Allardyce had a good start to his career as Blackburn's manager with a 3-0 win over Stoke City.

Leicester are still clear in League One. They beat Peterborough 4-0 whilst Millwall could only drew 0-0 with Crewe. MK Dons have gone above the Lions after piling more pressure on Gary McAllister with a 3-1 win.

Micky Adams Brighton are in the relegation places following a 1-0 defeat at Tranmere.

City's FA Cup opponents Kidderminster Harriers lost 2-0 at Crawley Town. Dean Yates side had Creighton sent off after only seven minutes and four players cautioned.

Courtney Pitt scored for Cambridge United in a 4-0 win against Salisbury City.

Locally, Tony Dobson's Rugby Town won 2-0 at Mangotsfield with two second half goals from Musgrove.

Leamington are ten points clear at the top of the Southern League Midland Division after a 3-0 win at Malvern Town. A brace from Corbett and one from Bellingham had the match wrapped up by the half hour mark.

Nuneaton are second after a 1-1 draw at AFC Sudbury with Atherstone whose game was postponed third. Bedworth are mid table after a 3-0 win at Sutton Coldfield. Robbie Beard scored twice.

In the Midland Alliance, Racing Club Warwick lost 5-0 at home to Causeway United whilst Stratford's game at Barwell was called off.

Midland Combination Premier Division results saw Coventry Copsewood beaten 2-1 at home by Walsall Wood. Luke Williams scored for Carl Nolan's side in the 22nd minute.

Massey Ferguson beat Bolehall Swifts 3-0 with goals from Hicks (5), Manoochehri (20) and Higgins (37)

Nuneaton Griff drew 2-2 at Oldbury Athletic whilst Southam were held 0-0 at home by Heather St John.

Coventry Amatuers beat Evesham A 3-0.
