COVENTRY CITY U18's 1-0 MILTON KEYNES DONS BY KEV MONKS

Coventry City warmed up for their FA Youth Cup Third Round tie with Southend at the Arena with a home victory against Milton Keynes Dons.

Against a side bottom of the league,City needed only five minutes to take the lead.

Reis Ashraf slipped the ball inside to Ange Lourougnon who side footed into the bottom corner of the net from seven yards.

Thirty five minutes later and after a lot of play in the middle third of the pitch,Ashraf back- heeled the ball for Lourougnon who beat two defenders before being up ended.

Referee Mr Maton award a spot kick and Lee Hildreth stepped up and fired down the centre of the goal. Dons keeper Lawrie Walker dived the wrong way but stuck out his right leg and was able to block the kick.

Three minutes into the second half and the industrious David Burtoft had to alert to clear a corner off the line.




City started to come under some pressure and in the 71st minute, Cameron Belford superbly dived high to his left to push away a close range Oliver Thorne header bullet header and then get down to a low drive from Dean Lovegrove.

Back came Brian Borrows side with the visiting keeper having to make saves from substitute Matt West and Lourougnon whilst Ashraf clipped a West cross wide.

Callum Burgess and Lee Hildreth had fine games as City held on to win.
