A Football League Tribunal has awarded Coventry City £30,000 for Danny Sturridge.

The nephew of Dean Sturridge turned down a contract witth City's Academy and went to join Manchester City. The highly rated sixteen year old scored twice against the Sky Blues in a FA Youth Cup tie last season and was the backbone of a Manchester City side which went on to reach the FA Youth Cup Final.

The Sky Blues could receive up to £200,000 if Sturridge makes forty appearances for The Citizens first team and is capped by England. One excellent part of the package is that Coventry will get 10% of any future transfer.

Mal Brannigan who attended the hearing along with Steve Ogrizovic said: "We are very satisfied with the settlement which we think is excellent considering it is based on a 13-year-old who was with us for just 14 months."
