City To Face Huddersfield

Coventry City will play Huddersfield Town in a pre-season friendly on Saturday July 25th, according to reports in Huddersfield.

City's first team have not played at the McAlpine Stadium before but the reserves played there last season and won 3-0. The last time, they played Huddersfield in a friendly was in Ibiza in 2005 which City won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Gary McSheffrey.

City's last appearance at Leeds Road was for a League Cup tie which Coventry won 2-0 with Jim Holton on the scoresheet in August 1977. City also won 1-0 there in a top flight fixture in April 1972.

Huddersfield boss Lee Clark told the Huddersfield Examiner: "Playing Coventry, who are a well established Championship side, gives us a guide to the level we want to attain, and it will be interesting to see how we acquit ourselves."
