City Target Signs For Bradford City

Eoin Doyle, whom Coventry City were, according to reports, interested in, has signed for Bradford City.

The Irishman was seen as an alternative after the Sky Blues switched their attention elsewhere after failing to land Portsmouth's Conor Chaplin.

However, tonight, Doyle, who has played club football in Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England has signed for fellow League One side Bradford City after an undisclosed fee was agreed, ending a three year spell with Preston North End.

He has signed a two year deal and said to Bradford City's club website;  “I am absolutely over the moon to be joining Bradford City and it will be a real honour to represent such a big club.

“I cannot wait to get into training tomorrow and meet the players.

“I am delighted the deal got done before the transfer window closed because I really want to hit the ground running and get the season off to a flying start here.

“The squad looks very good and I have played with a fair few of the lads in the past. There is a lot of talent here and I believe we can enjoy some success.

“I will give everything I have for this club. I will run myself into the ground every week for the team.

“I am already looking forward to running out in front of the fans and I will wear the No.9 shirt with immense pride.”

With the City support demanding another twenty goal a season striker to replace Marc McNulty who was sold to Reading, Manager Mark Robins said on Saturday after the defeat at West Bromwich Albion that he needs to do something and said: "I need to do some work and bring a couple in. That isn't a knee-jerk, it's something I have been planning for a while.

"I am just waiting for the right ones."

That could be Mansfield Town's Danny Rose. Peterborough United were amongst those interested in Rose but their interest has wained and the Sky Blues have submitted an opening bid which has been rejected according to reports.

These reports seem to think that further bids are likely from City in order to get the well talked about striker who has played for his home town club of Barnsley as well as Bury before joining Mansfield.
