Despite everything that has gone on, Coventry City supporters are still backing their team.

The club has sold of yesterday 4,055 season tickets, of which 300 were to those who did not have a season ticket last season.

With Financial Fair Play rules meaning that City need their fans more than ever, Ticketing manager Dan Walker told the CT: “That actually puts us slightly ahead of the same point last year, which we are obviously pleased about.

“With us playing our football in League One next year I think our fans understand that the more support we get from them, the better chance we have of getting back to the Championship and many fans that we speak to are really looking forward to the next campaign.

“As well as this we have also had an impressive return from fans that didn’t have a season ticket last time or have never had one before.

“They have taken advantage of the early bird offer before prices increases after the June 9 deadline and I think this is something that really attracts people that perhaps haven’t bought season tickets before.”
