Coventry City have finally announced the signing of teenager Morgan Williams from Mickleover Sports.

The central defender has been playing for Mickleover Sports in the Evo-Stick Northern Premier League and had had trials with Sheffield United and Derby County as well as with the V9 Academy in Manchester.

Mickleover Sports are a non-league club close to Mark Robins' home and took Jak Hickman and Bil Sayoud on loan from City as well as hosting a pre-season game as part of the relationship.

City have also taken a look at him as he featured in the U23's 5-1 home defeat to Barnsley in April and had been on trial for a week with City.

Williams has signed a two year deal after a deal worth in excess of £100,000+ was agreed for the 18 year old.

Jason Farndon said to the club website about Williams: "We were impressed with Morgan when he joined us on trial and he showed the right attitude and matched that with his performances during the time we had with him.

"He had a good grounding at Mickleover and impressed there last season and we are looking forward to working with him and continuing his development with us.

"This is another signing from a club in the non-league football pyramid, and it is good that we are looking at these clubs and the players who we believe can make the step up for us."
