City Seventeenth

Coventry City are in seventeenth place after their 2-0 defeat at Leicester City this afternoon.

West Brom continue to top the Championship after a 3-1 win at Hull City. Second placed Bristol City were held 1-1 at home by Colchester.

Martin Devaney scored for Barnsley in a 3-1 home defeat by Norwich for whom Dion Dublin netted in the 74th minute. James Scowcroft scored for Palace in a 3-0 win at Wolves.

There were wins for Burnley,Cardiff, Charlton,Preston, Sheff United and Southampton. Ipswich were held 1-1 at home by Stoke.

In League One, Paul Furlong scored for Luton in a 3-1 home defeat by divisional leaders Swansea but Richard Shaw was sent off in the 50th minute of Millwall's 3-1 defeat at Port Vale. Lee Hughes scored for Oldham in a 1-1 draw with Brighton.

George Boateng scored for Middlesbrough in a 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

Locally, Nuneaton Borough's home game with Worcester City was abandoned in the 88th minute due to a second floodlight failure. Nuneaton were winning 2-0 at the time.

Bedworth and Leamington's away games were postponed.

Coventry Sphinx suffered their second consecutive home defeat losing 3-2 at home to Shifnal. Jerome Murdock and Carl Winterbottom scored for Paul Charnley's side, who are away to Cradley on Tuesday before playing Salford City at home in the FA Vase 4th Round next Saturday.

Atherstone continue to top the Midland Alliance table with a 4-3 win over Stratford. Jai Stanley scored twice for Jimmy Ginnelly's side with former Sky Blue Gary McPhee scoring for Stratford.

Racing Club Warwick lost 2-1 at Causeway United.

In the Midland Combination Premier Division, Coventry Copsewood won 4-0 at Bartley Green. Craig Civelis scored twice with Chris Partridge and Tom Muldoon on the scoresheet. Southam and Nuneaton Griff's games were off.

As were Stockingford's and Leamington Hibernian's in the first division.

Coventry Sphinx Reserves won 5-1 at Barwell. Robbie Scott and Rich Elliott both scored twice with Harris netting for Lee Knibbs side.
