City Reserves Go Friendly

Coventry City Reserves face a season of playing friendly matches next season.

According to Sunderland's official website, a decision to have a Championship Reserve League split into northern and southern divisions, proposed after the FA PL decided that only Premiership clubs could play in a Premiership Reserve league, will not now go ahead due to a lack of numbers.

This will leave the Sky Blues who were runners-up in the second year of the league's formation and finished fifth in the season just gone without a league after they decided against playing in the Pontins League with travelling costs a major concern for the Sky Blues.

The article also reports that City,Wolves,Leicester and Derby who resigned from the FA PL in November are in the processing of contacting other clubs to arrange friendlies.

Any such matches are expected to be 2pm kick offs (1pm during the winter months) and played at Ryton thus saving the club more money by not having to hire the grounds of Rugby Town,Nuneaton Borough or the Arena.

More details on this when we have them.
