Former Coventry City loanee Jordan Henderson and former City youngster Danny Sturridge started for England U21's in their EuroU21 Championship 1-1 draw against Spain at the Herning Stadium.

The duo started for the team Stuart Pearce, himself a former City player, in a game which saw Spain take the lead in the 13th minute when Andra Herrera used his head and his hand according to tv replays, to steer the ball into the net after a corner had been headed in.

Spain had more of the possession but Sturridge had two chances later in the half as England grew stronger and stronger.

New Liverpool player Jordan Henderson covered plenty of ground and worked hard but England, who left former Sky Blue Jack Cork on the bench, levelled with two minutes of the match left when the flag stayed down and Danny Wellbeck was able to stroke the ball into the net and earn a point for their efforts.

England's next game is against Ukraine on Wednesday.
