A number of Coventry City former players were on target this afternoon.

Former City loanee David McGoldrick scored twice in the space of four minutes in the first half for Ipswich Town in a 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion at Portman Road.

Leon Best scored for Blackburn Rovers in a 3-1 win at AFC Bournemouth with a goal from fifteen yards.

Cody McDonald scored for Gillingham in a 3-0 win at Crewe.

Former City captain Sammy Clingan scored in the 35th minute for Kilmarnock who were beaten 5-2 by Celtic at home.

Craig Pead scored a penalty for Sphinx Sports & Social in a 3-2 Telegraph Cup defeat at Folly Lane.

Another former City captain Richard Keogh was sent off for a second bookable in the second half for Derby, who sacked their manager Nigel Clough after the game. Keogh's side lost 1-0 to local rivals Nottingham Forest.
