Former Coventry City youngster Paul Bastock is due to set a world record for the number of appearances this week.

Bastock, who was the keeper for City's FA Youth Cup winning team in 1987, and now at Wisbech Town after leaving Corby Town, has made  1,248 appearances and is expected to equal England legend and former City trialist Peter Shilton’s record of 1,249 appearances in a league game at Sleaford Town on Wednesday night.

Bastock should then make his 1,250th competitive career club appearance in Saturday’s FA Vase tie at Thetford.
