Former Coventry City youngster David Pipe is to get a new deal with Football League newcomers Newport County.

29 year old Pipe, who has also played for the likes of Notts County and Bristol Rovers, is captain of the Exiles, who booked their place in League 2 next season with a 2-0 Wembley win over Andy Morrell's Wrexham on Sunday.

Speaking about a new deal at Rodney Parade, Pipe, who has one cap for Wales, told BBC Sport; "I've spoken to him personally and shook his (manager Justin Edinburgh's) hand, so we'll go on from there.

"With a person like the gaffer and myself, we're men's men so a shake of the hand is good enough for me. I'm sure I'll sign the forms over the next couple of days."
