Coventry City have offered a deal to former Tottenham Hotspur youngster Ruben Lameiras.

The Portuguese forward impressed during his outing at Nuneaton Town and looked useful during the defeat against Portsmouth on Tuesday and speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, Tony Mowbray said: "We’ve made an offer to Ruben.

“Let’s wait and see but I would hope in the next day or two that we would conclude that one way or the other.

“I’d like to think we’ve offered him an opportunity to kick start his career after a spell in Sweden after leaving Tottenham. There’s nothing definitive on that other than we’ve made him an offer and we’ll see how that goes with his advisors and the boy himself.

“It works both ways, of course, because as I said to his agent the boy has got talent and we’re giving him an opportunity. He’s still young and the question is can he make an impact at our club? He has to stay hungry and, first and foremost, force his way into our team.

“Let’s wait and see what the next few days brings.”
