Coventry City's 2-1 defeat to Blackpool was not only a chance of getting off the bottom of the Championship table wasted, it also meant that Andy Thorn's team are now two points behind Nottingham Forest and Doncaster Rovers.

With City losing at Bloomfield Road to two late goals and Forest beaten 2-0 at home by Burnley, Doncaster drew 0-0 at Hull to move third bottom thanks to having a better goal difference than Forest.

Millwall dropped to fourth bottom after a 2-0 home defeat to Watford whilst Ipswich leap-frogged over Millwall and fifth from bottom Bristol City with a 5-1 win over West Ham.

At the other end of the table, second placed Southampton were held to a 1-1 draw by third placed Cardiff City. Birmingham City moved up to fourth with a 4-1 win at Leeds. Hull are fifth in the table with Blackpool sixth.

Elsewhere, Barnsley beat Derby 3-2 and Palace drew 1-1 with Brighton.
