Coventry City's 3-1 Football League Cup defeat at League One side Bury was not the only defeat in the first round of the competition on Tuesday night.
Morecambe who knocked the Sky Blues out of the competition at the same stage last year won 2-0 at Barnsley, Portsmouth lost 1-0 at home to Barnet, Derby were beaten 3-2 at Pride Park by Shrewsbury Town, Hull City lost 2-0 at home to Macclesfield and Northampton Town won 2-1 at Ipswich.
Nottingham Forest just got through after a 4-1 penalties win over neighbours Notts County for whom City old boy Lee Hughes scored i na game which finished 3-3 after extra time.
Leeds came back to beat local rivals Bradford City 3-2 whilst an own goal from former Sky Blue loanee Matty Mills put Rotherham ahead but they lost 4-1 at home to Leicester City.
