A Coventry City Associate Director has said that the club must acquire back its stake in Arena Coventry Limited’s Ricoh Arena if it is to be able to generate new income streams.

The club have been operating on limited income streams since moving to the Ricoh Arena in August 2005 and have avoided administration on a number of occasions due to this.

"The current situation puts the club at a huge disadvantage. The economics of football, including financial fair play rules mean that if the club is to succeed then it must increase the amount of money it generates. Clearly the current agreement in regards to the Ricoh Arena is not in the club's best interests" said David Shortland to the club website.

"If we as supporters of the football club really want it to move forward, and be able to compete at this level, then we must all support the club's efforts to find a workable solution to the stadium issue."
