City Legends Invited To Attend Charity Game At Sphinx

Last updated : 22 February 2013 By CCFPA

Coventry City Former Players Association member and Sky Blue stalwart of the 1990s Dave Busst is putting together an XI made up of some of Sky Blue heroes of our famous 1987 F.A. Cup  winning squad and others with CCFC connections for Charity.

The game is  in aid of Coventry Cyrenians, a homeless Charity currently celebrating 40 years of tackling homelessness and facing growing challenges, especially locally, in this period of economic austerity.

The game between the (augmented) former Sky Blues and  a combined Sphinx/ Cyrenians Select side will take place at the ground of Coventry Sphinx F.C. at Siddeley Avenue Stoke on the evening of  Friday March 1st 2013. Kick -off is at 7.30 pm and admission will be £5.

Apart from Dave himself, already signed up for the game are the likes of  Micky Gynn, Dave Bennett, Paul Culpin, current Sky Blues caretaker manager Lee Carsley, Steve Morgan, Dave Titterton, Craig Pead and Terry Angus. Other players will be announced in due course.

Since the game takes place on the evening before CCFPA’s own Legends Day 2013 reunion at the Sky Blues’ home game against table toppers Swindon Town on March 2nd, when upwards of 40 CCFC stars of the past are due to return to the Ricoh, Dave Busst and the other organisers of the Charity match have invited any Sky Blue Former Players planning to stay overnight before the big Day to join them and the supporters at the game (and in the bar afterwards)!
