Coventry City Ladies won 3-0 at Newcastle United this afternoon to keep up their bid for promotion.

At Northumbria University, City, the WPL Northern Division leaders, took on a Newcastle United team managed by former Coventry City player Trevor Benjamin and a side needing to win in order to help preserve their league status.

City took the lead before half-time when Callen Barber swung over a corner for Destiny Toussaint at the far post to fire home.

On the hour mark, Dani Selmes extended City's lead when she reacted first after the Geordies keeper had brilliantly saved from Toussaint, who needed treatment.

Such was her injury that there was a fifteen minute delay and when the game restarted, Jade Formaston made it three when she scored following a corner from Dermody.
