City Ladies Win At Aston Villa

Coventry City Ladies put in another excellent performance to win 2-0 at Aston Villa and go top of the Women's Premier League this afternoon

At Boldmere St Michaels ground, Paul Cudby's side went into an early lead when Courtney Sweetman Kirk sent a 22 yard curler into the top of the net after only five minutes.

Maz Gauntlett attacked but her shot from eight yards beat Walsh and also the post before Kerry Manley sent a Helen Dermody free kick onto the cross bar.

The Sky Blues continued to cause Villa problems with Dermody corner causing panic before Durrant shot wide and Walsh having to get down to save a Gauntlett snap shot.

City kept pressing in the second half winning a series of corners and in the 57th minute, it was 2-0 to the Sky Blues when Maz Gauntlett sent a bullet header past Walsh from a Simkins corner.

Substitute Crissy Torkildesen volleyed over from a Simkins corner as City cruised to victory.
