City Ladies Lose To The Champions

Coventry City Ladies went down to a 4-1 home defeat to WPL National Division Champions Sunderland this afternoon.

Paul Cudby gave a home debut to Bianca Bragg and Erica Mole for this game christened the paupers against the princesses who are heavily financed by Sunderland FC.

Courtney Sweetman-Kirk had a first minute goal ruled out for offside and six minutes later, Ramshaw tapped in to give the visitors the lead.

Helen Dermody hit a post before a great double strike by Toussaint, but keeper equal to both with fine blocks.

Sweetman-Kirk forced the keeper into two saves but after the restart, City were soon undone with the visitors scored two early goals in the second half.

There was some joy for City when Helen Dermody fired home a penalty after Bragg had been brought down.

But in time added on, Sunderland scored a fourth to take the victory.
